Chris and I took Spencer for a walk in the woods this morning before the rain and heat set in. It was good timing. The sun wasn't quite over the trees yet, therefore not beating down on us, and about 20 mins after we got home it started raining!
We crossed paths with some deer about 5 times. :) Four of those times it was the same set of deer, but the last time I'm pretty sure it was a different one because of where it was and what direction it came from.
It was pretty neat. I got an awesome video of them too, but it's not uploading very clearly. The place we went to today happens to be directly across the road from where we're moving next month, so I plan to go there more often, especially if there is a good mix of wildlife!
I also took some pictures of Spencer. We were throwing a couple of sticks to get him to look in the right direction for the camera, but then, being a dog, he decided to try to pounce on the sticks instead. lol
Posting this made me I realize that I hadn't updated about the other hike we took him on a couple of weeks ago.
It was a different area, but still within London. It was nice (except the bee hive, but thankfully that was a good distance from the trail!). The greenish part was interesting. We threw some sticks into it and the algae just gooped over again to cover the 'hole' that the stick made. lol ew. Again, Spencer was getting upset we were throwing sticks that he was unable to chase, so that game came to a halt eventually. haha It's nice to be in a place like this in the middle of the city. When we're there, it feels like we've completely gone to the middle of nowhere.
I'm excited about the place we're moving to. There's SO much within walking distance. A large grocery store (one of those 'super' ones with a lot of extra things as well), a drug store, gas station, Starbucks (lol), Animal Hospital, convenience store, dollar store, hair dresser, Subway restaurant.... that's all off the top of my head. There are other things too. They're all across the street! One of the best parts is that our apartment actually faces AWAY from all of this, so when we're home, we don't hear the noise and traffic (on the 11th floor, we probably wouldn't anyways, but it's nice to know our view won't be of the commercial area).
We get the place in less than a month. I'm not looking forward to this move. It's going to be hard. We have more furniture than I've ever had in my entire life now. Sigh.
Wish us luck. lol

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.”

Well... sometimes it's home... there's another little place that I also call home (the place I 'grew up'), but on and off for the past 6 years, the London, Ontario area has been 'home' to me. I have moved many a time in those 6-7 years, and have lived in about 6 different places within London itself (spanning almost every corner of the city, including downtown, the east end, the west end, the south end, and a bit of the north end too).
Today, I stumbled across the wikipedia article about the city and went ahead and read it. It was actually interesting, and figured, ifiany of you are up for some 'light' reading, you can learn about where I live. I kinda think 'give us ten facts about the city you live in' would kinda make for an interesting QotD.
That said, I find it doubtful I'll spend the rest of my life in London. But for now, it serves the purpose of being big enough to be interesting, small enough to not be overwhelming, and close enough to family to be comforting.
